Keith's Birthday Shirt

While May 30 is still SEVERAL weeks to come, I wanted to make him a shirt in honor of "Let's Hear it for the Boys" month at I Am Momma-Hear Me Roar http://iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com/  I love vintage looking jersey shirts for little boys.  So in honor of our last name, I named this team the "SAVAGES" and chose the number "3" since that is how old Keith will be in May.  Hope you like it!
The Shirt.

My Sweet Little Model.

Here is quick break down of how I did it...just in case you want to do it too!  First, I found this tee at Hobby Lobby.  They are $2.99 but what I love the most is there are toddler sizes!  I also picked up some felt in grey and black while I was JoAnn Fabrics for another project.  They were $.10 a piece with my coupon.
I printed off "SAVAGES" by taping freezer paper to cardstock and sending it through the printer; then I started cutting it out.  Don't forget to save the "inside" parts to letters like "A" and "V".

Iron the freezer paper onto the t-shirt.

Paint with a brush on the stencil.  I wanted the vintage look so I quickly and sloppy brushed it.   It then had to dry for a couple hours.  I used a hair dryer to speed up the process (I don't have a lot of patience for drying stuff! Ha ha).  When it dried, I gently pulled off the freezer paper.

Finally, I pinned the felt "3" to the shirt to sew on.  I sewed on the black part of the "3" first, then when around the edge of the grey.  I wasn't happy with my stitching job but as I am just a novice seamstress, it will have to do. I know there are not a lot of details here but hopefully you get the idea.   It was such an easy project, I will be making more.  Next up a Saluki shirt for the summer!
