The master bedroom upgrade.

Our master bedroom has always been my favorite place in the house.  I find it a relaxing getaway that is intimate and private where I can really let down.  With that said I have come to realize we need an upgrade!  I have messed with comforter, quilted blankets, and duvet covers to no avail.  We need a change and a change bad.  So while checking out my favorite sites (pottery barn and crate & barrel) I found this cool bedroom.



Our walls are currently two shades of light sea blue.  My hope is to paint the dark blue stripe a silvery gray as well as the stepped ceiling.  We also had hardwoods left over from the living room and our carpets are have worn awful.  I want to put the extra hardwoods in the bedroom and find an awesome rug under the bed.  While I love purple, we will stick with the blue.  I am making a duvet cover that will be easier for me to wash as our dear Gabby dog sleeps with us and from time to time makes the bed spread dirty with her little paws.

Easter Sunday and a few other things...

Prior to the party and Easter, Master Keith needed a haircut in the worst way.  It grows sooooo fast!!! Miss Barb cuts his hair and she does a great job.  Here is my big boy getting his hair cut:

Now onto Easter...

Immediately after the Easter party, Keith's packages from his Grandma Thornton and Omee arrived.  He was so thrilled...if you can't tell.

He started with Omee's box first...lots of great Easter goodies.  And a picture with his Daddy to send to Omee soon (I promise!).  

And then quickly onto Grandma and Grandpa Thornton's package.  He LOVES his new bunny...A.K.A. HOP, because apparently every bunny is named that :-)

And yes, we "picked" a good one for you! Bahahaha!

Before bed, on Easter eve, we left the Easter bunny some carrot treats on our steps.

And SURPRISE the Easter bunny left some goodies for him!  Look at him checking on those carrots...

We had some big eggs to open!

Our Easter family photo was about as good as it ever is of Keith these days; he closes his eyes!  Apparently the flash is of great bother to him (something Mommy is concerned about and is checking into) so we always have squinty eyes.  Oh well, he is a cutie-pie nonetheless! We grabbed a quick photo before heading out for breakfast at church prior to services.  

Keith has truly mastered the art of egg hunting.  He was very excited about the post church egg hunt.  He was so kind too.  When he got all the eggs he was suppose to, he went to help his friends.  Sooooo cute and very sweet!  Good work my little man. :-)

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT AND BLESSED EASTER!

It's an Easter Party

Every since Keith saw Mickey Mouse's Easter party episode he has wanted to have his own party.  So today, we celebrated with his friends and their parents.  It was so awesome and Keith was completely happy.

This is my super neat Easter decoration from eighteen25.blogspot.com.  Thanks gals, I had so many compliments! While waiting for all the guests to arrive, I had baked 4 dozen sugar cookies for the kids to decorate.  To save a little money too, I made frosting and colored it on my own, using sandwich bags turned decorating tubes.  The best part....all I had to do was throw them out when we finished.

In addition to the sugar cookie station, I had two smaller tables for color time.  I found some Easter color sheets online for the kids.  I through the mess of broken crayons in a couple plastic tubs and let them color away!  Great memories to share with Grandma and Grandpa.

Color Time!

 Meet E.B.; known to most as the Easter Bunny.  My dear friend Kim happen to have a bunny costume; even better her daughter agreed to play the part.  I must say I was beyond impressed that the 9 year old E.B. did not speak once while playing the part!  She made rabbit noises and hopped around.  How appropriate!!!  Thanks my dear dear Savannah...sure there is a nail appointment in your new future as a HUGE thank you for   all your help!

As E.B. appeared, Master Keith, the party host, decided he wasn't so about the cute bunny!

 To make it a little easier, I had everyone bring a dozen eggs for each child participating in the egg hunt.  There was an "egg drop" at the front door; then the daddys "hid" the eggs in our downstairs living area.  Each kiddo was to grab 12 eggs to make it fair for all; plus it's a great way for the kids to practice their counting!

Eggs scored...now time to check our booty!  Thanks to Nanna T for helping Master Keith.  Mommy was busy getting lunch ready and daddy, well, not sure :-)

Picture time.  I set-up a staging area for each kiddo get their picture taken.  Many many thanks to my girl Haley ( haleyv6.blogspot.com).  Again, another shout out to the great gals at eighteen25.blogspot.com for the bunny tails the E.B. handed to each kiddo after their picture.  Just like the mall, huh???  Oh yeah!

Like the perfect party host, Master Keith took one for the team and tried out the E.B. picture thing first. GREAT face!!!

After a fun lunch of grilled hotdogs, brats, and burgers; the kiddo went outside for a very brief "stomping of the eggs" (brief because we are getting bucket and buckets of rain here).  I found this activity in my Family Fun magazine.  If you don't subscribe you should.  Lots of great ideas for activities with your kids such as the egg stomp idea.  Basically, you use a pin and nail to empty the eggs, dye the eggs, fill them with confetti, and glue a cupcake liner to the bottom to hold the confetti in.  If you noticed in the first photo, I also used them as decoration, lining the mantel.  And many thanks for helping coordinate the group Ms. Barb!!!

All and all despite the awful weather, we were able to celebrate this blessed holiday happily!  Watching the kids so happy made me think about my friend Deana's facebook post on Friday...while she said she heard it from someone else, it really put things in perspective for me...As a parent I couldn't imagine, but as a believer I'm eternally grateful. God is good!   Happy Easter to everyone and may God not only bless you this holiday but each and every day!
